Applications Open for Energy Assistance

East Central Illinois Community Action Agency has begun accepting appointments for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to assist all households who meet income and program eligible guidelines.

As of December 1, eligible households in Vermilion County can apply for LIHEAP assistance by scheduling an appointment at East Central Illinois Community Action Agency (56 N. Vermilion Street, Danville), between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. or by calling 217-554-9110.

In Ford and Iroquois Counties, eligible households may call one of the following locations for an appointment: Ford County – 217-379-2071 and Iroquois County – 815-265-4685.

The Agency is still scheduling appointments for residents who are senior citizens, have a documented disability, have children age six years and under, or are disconnected from their power provider. The LIHEAP program will continue until May 31, 2018 or until funding is exhausted.
Scavenger Hunt at War Museum

The Vermilion County War Museum announces “Find the Hidden Jewels of the Museum” Scavenger Hunt. Join the Vermilion County War Museum as we search for our treasurers amongst the Museum Artifacts.

Every person who comes into the Museum is eligible to participate with paid admission. They will be given a list of clues that highlight some of our hidden gems. Fill out that list while you tour our museum and turn it in as you leave.

All correct answer sheets will be entered into a drawing for gift certificates for area businesses at the end of the month.

The contest runs during normal business hours, Tuesday – Friday 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. For more information about the Vermilion County War Museum or scheduling a tour please call 217-431-0034.
DACC Ag Club Farm Toy Show

The Danville Area Community College Ag Club will sponsor their 30^th Annual Farm Toy Show in the Mary Miller Gym on Sunday, January 28, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The show will consist of farm toys in a variety of sizes of reproduction. Scale models as small as 1/64th the actual size will be shown. The general public will be given the opportunity to buy, sell, or trade toys with area collectors and dealers. There will be door prize drawings approximately every half-hour and at 1 p.m. a kiddie tractor pull for kids ages 3 to 10 will be conducted. A concession stand will be available.

Admission is $2 for adults and free for those 11 and under. Proceeds will go to the Ag Club Activity fund and the annual Ag Day fund. Last year, the Ag Club supplied the meal for over eighteen hundred people for 50¢, the price farmers receive for the raw inputs of the meal, at the annual Ag Day.
